Marine Superintendent (m/f/d) - Offshore

As a Marine Superintendent (m/f/d) Offshore at BSM, you will be responsible for ensuring safe, compliant, and effective vessel operations. Acting as a key link between ship and shore, you will provide operational and navigational support, manage audits and inspections, and drive continuous improvement to uphold international standards and enhance customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor updates and propose improvements in safety, security, operational performance, offshore operations, and voyage efficiency; implement corrective actions from audits and incidents.
Provide operational and commercial guidance to Masters, including voyage orders, port limitations, navigation risks, offshore project requirements, and security threats.
Manage relationships with owners, charterers, offshore clients, project stakeholders, and contractors; address operational inquiries and complaints when required.
Monitor navigational, cargo, and offshore project operations to ensure compliance with international regulations, client requirements, and company standards.
Assist with identifying discrepancies in operational standards and advise on navigational, cargo, and offshore equipment performance.
Ensure vessels maintain statutory certifications and compliance with Class, Flag State, Port State, and offshore industry-specific requirements.
Identify and mitigate operational, security, and offshore project-related risks.
Support Masters during vetting, audits, inspections, and client offshore audits; prepare responses and implement corrective actions.
Liaise with P&I/Insurance on commercial disputes when required.
Conduct appraisals and training for sea staff during ship visits; identify training needs and arrange briefings, including specialized offshore operational training.
Provide support and oversight for offshore operations, renewable energy projects, platform supply, and other offshore service operations, ensuring compliance with client and industry requirements.
Qualifications & Experience
M.Sc. or B.Sc. in Maritime Studies, Nautical Science, or equivalent; Master Mariner or Chief Officer qualification.
Minimum 2 years sailing experience as SDPO holding Chief Mate CoC, or at least 3 years as Marine Superintendent in a ship management or owning company.
A valid unlimited DPO Certificate is required.
Experience with offshore vessels and operations (e.g., OSVs, AHTS, PSV, subsea support, offshore construction, or offshore wind projects) is highly desirable.
Skills & Competencies
Knowledge of quality, environmental, and safety standards and related legislation, including offshore industry regulations and best practices.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Experience in customer management and understanding of regional maritime and offshore market conditions.
Good people management skills.
Strong understanding of offshore operational risks, project interfaces, and client-focused service delivery.
