As a Technical Superintendent (m/f/d) LNG Bunker Vessels at BSM, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and cost‑efficient technical operation of assigned LNG bunker vessels. In this role, you serve as a key link between ship and shore, safeguarding operational excellence, maintaining strong client relationships, and upholding the highest standards of safety, maintenance, and environmental compliance. BSM Germany is presently managing 5 LNG Bunker Vessels and is expecting further fleet growth and development in this segment as well as in other alternative fuel bunker vessels. LNG bunker vessels operate at the forefront of innovation, combining complex LNG carrier systems with advanced ship-to-ship transfer capabilities. This creates a highly dynamic and technically advanced working environment, making the role particularly engaging and impactful.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor and control the safe and cost‑efficient technical operation of assigned LNG bunker vessels using available resources, in line with defined cost parameters, commercial viability, operational excellence, and Owners’ expectations
Provide hands-on technical support during commissioning, trials, and early-life operation of newbuild LNG bunker vessels, including close coordination with yards, makers, and class
Ensure the effective maintenance and technical integrity of assigned LNG bunker vessels to guarantee operational readiness
Support vessel teams in troubleshooting advanced automation, power-management, and LNG supply systems
Ensure operational readiness and reliability of ship-to-ship (STS) transfer systems, including hoses, emergency release systems, and associated deck equipment
Provide ad-hoc technical support in case of critical issues to minimize downtime and operational impact
Maintain close communication with clients and foster strong working relationships with client representatives
Plan, arrange, and execute drydock activities at regular intervals
Manage and conduct vessel visits, audits, and inspections to ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards
Review, oversee, and authorize necessary technical expenditures
Ensure compliance with environmental policies, industry regulations, and operational best practices
Qualifications & Experience
Degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or equivalent, or a Chief Engineer’s qualification
Proven experience with LNG bunker vessels and/or LNG carriers, preferably with exposure to regular LNG STS operations, gained either in a senior onboard role or a comparable shore-based position
Professional experience as a Technical Superintendent in a similar position within a ship-owning or ship-management company
Strong experience in handling complex machinery systems, such as dual fuel-electric propulsion units and advanced power management systems
Skills & Competencies
Excellent communication skills enabling effective interaction with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
Advanced English language proficiency to support clear and effective collaboration across international teams
Strong ability and enthusiasm for working in a diverse and multicultural environment
