Vessel Operator (m/f/d)
Drive voyage performance from shore to ship
As a Vessel Operator at BSM, you will be responsible for supporting the safe, efficient and commercially sound operation of assigned vessels by acting as the key ship‑to‑shore link on voyage, cargo, and chartering matters.
Key Responsibilities
Overseeing and managing all post-fixture operational activities of dry cargo, offshore and LNG-fleet
Coordination of commercial and operational matters with all stakeholders in collaborating with charterers, owners, the onboard crew and other stakeholders
Ensuring compliance with the desired operational performance standards
Claims handling, off-hire disputes, and deviations incl. the coordination of incident response and unplanned operational events
Managing of special projects, performance initiatives, and extraordinary operational topics
Data administration, voyage reporting, and marine accounting tasks
Liaising with technical, , and crewing departments to support integrated vessel operations, charter negotiations, and tender support
Ensuring compliance with existing and upcoming regulatory requirements, including verification and submission of emissions and environmental data
Preparing operational documentation, voyage instructions, and post‑voyage analyses
Qualifications & Experience
You have completed a commercial apprenticeship or hold a bachelor's degree, ideally in a shipping related field.
You bring 5-7 years of experience in the marine operations or chartering department.
You are a strong team player and passionate about commercial problem solving.
You balance a well-structured working style with the ability to adapt to a dynamic environment.
You have a service-oriented mind-set in combination with strong communication skills and proactive approach.
