Assistant Accounts Officer Trainee

As an Assistant Accounting Officer Trainee at BSM, you will be responsible for supporting the accurate and timely execution of all accounting activities related to vessel operations and the wider organisation. You will play an essential role in maintaining financial integrity, ensuring compliance with accounting principles, and facilitating smooth coordination between ship and shore functions.
Key Responsibilities
Receive billing reports, disbursements, and invoices, performing initial checks to ensure completeness and accuracy before processing transactions.
Settle accounts and payments related to vessels promptly to support uninterrupted vessel operations.
Collect, record, and provide financial data to support the preparation of reports for management and clients.
Support the issuance of client invoices in line with contractual agreements and monitor timely payments, reporting any deviations.
Contribute to the development of strategic objectives by providing financial input aligned with organisational goals.
Prepare crew allotment reports in accordance with relevant policies.
Support the reconciliation of accounting transactions and maintain accurate accounting records and ledgers.
Provide information and follow‑up support for routine inquiries from clients and colleagues.
Allocate expenses across departments and prepare invoices following approval.
Coordinate with relevant parties to ensure accounting activities are completed accurately and on time.
Assist in internal and external audits by gathering and providing required documentation, supporting accurate and professional audit execution.
Qualifications & Experience
Professional education in Finance, Accounting, or related field is an advantage.
No previous experience required.
Skills & Competencies
Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems.
Strong attention to detail.
Good interpersonal and communication skills.
Very good people management skills.
Fluency in English.
