Vetting Coordinator

As a Vetting Officer at BSM, you will be responsible for ensuring the accurate preparation, coordination, and follow‑up of vetting inspections, enabling safe, compliant, and efficient vessel operations. You will play a key role in bridging ship and shore by supporting Masters and Superintendents, facilitating communication with inspection bodies, and ensuring that all findings are properly addressed and documented.
Key Responsibilities
Organise and contribute to the accurate preparation of vetting inspections, ensuring all required documentation is completed, reviewed, and submitted on time.
Coordinate the development of vetting inspection plans and liaise with inspection bodies regarding travel arrangements and attendance.
Inform all relevant stakeholders—including vessel Masters and agents—of confirmed inspection schedules and associated requirements.
Receive, distribute, and communicate vetting inspection reports to all involved parties.
Arrange meetings with inspectors, Masters, and company representatives to discuss findings and agree on corrective actions.
Support Masters and Superintendents in preparing closing reports, ensuring all deficiencies are paired with appropriate corrective actions.
Develop analytical reports summarizing inspection results and agreed actions and submit them to vessel owners.
Create and update inspection records to ensure proper follow‑up and maintain accurate historical data.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree or Certificate from a maritime‑related secondary school.
Minimum of 2 years offshore experience within a ship management or owning company.
Skills & Competencies
Familiarity with vessels’ technical operations.
Knowledge of OCIMF guidelines and requirements.
Good understanding of maritime law and related procedures.
Strong organisational and communication skills.
Fluency in English and very good command of the company’s national language.
Proficiency in PC applications.
