Technical Superintendent (m/f/d) Offshore

As a Technical Superintendent (m/f/d) Offshore at BSM, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and cost-effective technical management of assigned vessels. Acting as the vital link between ship and shore, you will provide expert guidance to vessel staff, maintain strong client relationships, and uphold compliance with international regulations. Your role is strategically important in safeguarding operational performance, optimizing energy efficiency, and supporting the continual improvement of ship management standards.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure vessels meet contractual obligations and maintain compliance with maritime legislation and charter party requirements
Provide technical support and guidance to Masters and Chief Engineers on safety, maintenance, and critical equipment
Monitor vessel performance, machinery, and equipment, implementing solutions to enhance efficiency and safety
Plan and manage drydock activities, repairs, and surveys, ensuring completion within budget and schedule
Prepare, monitor, and report vessel budgets, including forecasting for regulatory compliance and operational expenses
Conduct vessel visits, audits, and inspections, ensuring timely reporting and closure of findings
Coach, mentor, and train senior officers onboard, supporting career development and promoting safety culture
Qualifications & Experience
B.S. degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or equivalent qualification
Chief Engineer’s qualification is an advantage
Minimum of 3 years sailing experience as Senior Officer, or 3 years shore-based experience as Technical Superintendent with a ship management or owning company
Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of vessel technical requirements and voyage regulations
Excellent project management and organizational skills
Strong negotiation and people management abilities
Team-oriented mindset with a focus on cooperation and collaboration
Fluency in English and proficiency in PC literacy
